I
purchased just one of the steel shad lures at the
fishing show in Indy. I live about 2 hours West
in a small town, Hoopeston, IL. I used the lure
for the first time a few days ago. Temperature was
45 with a fairly strong East wind. Not supposed
to be a good day for fishing. The water temp was
48 degrees but for one area next to a power plant
where the temp reached 62. I have only been fishing
for a couple of years and was with a buddy of mine.
We always have small, fun wager. $1.00 for the first,
$1.00 for the biggest and $1.00 for the most. I
never win. He's been fishing much longer than I
so I basically plan on losing my $3.00 each time
we go out. We started in the warm water and about
30 minutes after we started, I pulled out the steel
shad two casts later I landed the first bass, 5
minutes later I landed the 2nd. My fishing partner
pulled out a lure that had a similar action but
nothing took it. About an hour later we were in
some cold water and had just mentioned that neither
of us catch any fish in this cove. It always looked
like a prime spot but never any action. It wasn't
30 seconds later, I landed my 3rd bass. Now for
a guy who never catches fish in the early spring
it was a very exciting day. I eventually lost my
lure on a hangup on an underwater root and couldn't
get it free. My line broke. I just ordered 4 more
of the lures for me and two my buddy. He said he
never wants to be shut out by me again. Those were
wonderful words for me to hear. Just thought you
might want to hear from a very satisfied customer.

I wanted to share with you this photo of the bass my wife caught yesterday on a gold Steelshad. We were fishing at a small reservoir outside of Des Moines , Iowa where we live. She caught it on her second cast with my daughter's cheap 4' rod and reel. We have come to really love the Steelshad and manage to catch many more fish than others around us.

Captain Steve,
It has been a while since we last spoke and I thought I would share some good news. If you remember last I told you that I was unable to fish bigger waters because of the lack of a boat. Well that has changed.
My wife and I fish at Mark Twain Lake in Missouri. Last weekend, Nov 1st, after fishing all day, and I mean all day, sun up to 4:30 with out a single bite I decided to tie on the silver steelshad. We were in a cove that had some shad moving around a lot. I put a decent bend in the lure and let her fly. After only a few casts, maybe 3 my personal best was on the line. She hit it on the fall.
The cheap scales that I had marked her at 5 lbs exactly, but I would have guessed more.
